Ellie Lofaro

Ellie Lofaro's message is a wonderful blend of plainspoken truth, common sense practicality and disarming humor. Drawing from the context of real life, she deftly handles the Word of God and steadily directs her audiences to consider what concerns them in light of God's timeless truths. With her trademark quick wit and convincing demeanor, she pairs Biblical principles with life's deeper questions. The result? An audience who willingly joins Ellie in the journey toward deeper faith and applying God's grace and truth to their lives.

A reputable author and speaker, Ellie has touched the hearts and funny-bones of audiences since 1984. Her ability to discover humor in everyday situations coupled with her deep understanding of God's grace have brought laughter, hope and encouragement to many. Equally comfortable sharing the "Great News" alongside acclaimed teachers at national conferences, on a television broadcast, or roaming the halls during a midnight search for chocolate at a women's retreat, Ellie effuses a natural ease and engaging warmth. After meeting Ellie for the first time, Patsy Clairmont shared, "She is the kind of person you immediately hope will always be your friend."

Ellie (Elvira Robina Mannarino Lofaro) is a first generation American and the second of five children in a "very Italian" family. A native New Yorker, she speaks of being brought up "with the awareness of God, but not the experience of God." However, as a teenager, she encountered a relationship with God through Jesus Christ, and realized her new identity as a "Capital C Christian" - "highly flawed, fully forgiven and greatly favored."

Completely convinced of God's love and His mandate to "go and tell," Ellie has committed her life to inspire others with His goodness and grace.

"After all, when you fall in love, you tell people. When you get married, you tell people. When you have a baby, you tell people. And when you find out there's a way to live a life of purpose now and to live in Paradise forever and ever...well, you just don't keep that kind of thing to yourself."

Leap of Faith

A serious student of Scripture and a keen observer of the culture, Ellie has developed a unique teaching style that touches the heart, stimulates the mind, and nourishes the soul-resulting in the founding of Heart Mind & Soul Ministries. She continues to be blessed with a broad array of opportunities to communicate her passion for Christ. The mission of Heart Mind & Soul Ministries is to teach the timeless truths of God through speaking engagements, through books, through Bible Studies, and to provide references and resources to those seeking to grow deeper in the walk of faith.

In 2008, Ellie teamed up with fellow Italian New Yorker Kathy Troccoli to present the women's conference Spaghetti for the Soul: A Feast of Faith, Hope, and Love. A book by the same title was published by WaterBrook Press. The national conferences have been igniting hearts for Christ through solid Biblical teaching, an uplifting concert, a challenge to action, a call to salvation, a time of worship --and a healthy dose of humor. Spaghetti for the Soul is being joyfully "served" to women of all ages and stages in 50 cities across America. In 2010, they launched an all new conference titled LOOK UP ! Timeless Truths for Trying Times.

Ellie's fourth book, From Battle Scars to Beauty Marks, Portraits of Women Who Turned Trials to Triumphs , shares true stories of uncommon grace. Leap of Faith , endorsed by Chuck Colson, is her third book and challenges readers to discover and embrace the life that God has promised. Each of these three books have accompanying group Bible Study guides. Her first two books; Bonding with the Blonde Women and Slices of Life are poignant, delightful, heartfelt collections of humorous and provocative essays. In addition, she has written for Today's Christian Woman Magazine, Women of Faith's Connection Magazine, the Women's Channel of and has contributed to compilations from seven publishing houses including Word, Zondervan and Bethany House.

Ellie has had the privilege of being a featured guest on programs such as James Dobson's Focus on the Family, James Robison's Life Today, 100 Huntley Street, The Harvest Show, and CBN's Living the Life-as well as the Moody, Salem, Bott and LeSEA Broadcasting Networks.

When asked about some of the highlights of her life...Ellie shared that she is very grateful for her years at Boston College, taught high school English, coached volleyball, debate and Bible Quiz teams, traveled through Europe with a backpack for 10 weeks, served as a youth group leader, married Frank, made three babies, revamped her church's women's ministry, presided over the PTA, hosted a daily radio talk show, contributed a newspaper column, traveled to five continents, and in her spare time-she filled up 70 plus photo albums. (no cropping!) Her deepest joy comes from talking about the goodness and love of God.

Ellie and her husband Frank (President and CEO of the Christian Leadership Alliance), reside near the nation's capital. They have three terrific (almost grown) kids: Paris-- named for the City of Light; Jordan-- named for the River of Life; and Capri-- named for the Isle of Love.

Ellie loves the ocean, travel, photography, reading, eating all things Italian--but dislikes cooking.
